I’ll be heading to this year’s Gamescom in late August, both for networking, as well as some low-key recruiting for my game Lightyears from Home. The project had pretty much been frozen for a couple of years, but throughout the recent months I’ve started putting a decent amount of time and resources into getting it back on track.
Despite living in Germany, my last memories with Gamescom date back almost 10 years ago. Back then I joined a small indie team on one of the smaller pre-shows that took place before the event. This time I’ll likely be entirely on my own, albeit equipped with a proper trade visitor pass that gives me access to the business area, as well as various mixer events. Since getting my own booth would however have been completely overkill, I’ll be roaming around the event like a vagabond and approach everyone who remotely looks like either a developer, artist, or animator.
Should you be interested in meeting up with me, feel free to shoot me a mail on my regular email address, which is music[at]dennyschneidemesser.com. This is how you write it to keep the bots away, right? Guess I’ll see that in a few days.
As you could probably tell from the last paragraph, I’ve been on a bit of a hiring spree in the recent months in regards to the project, although the term “spree” might be a little too grand, as the budget for this project is essentially some savings plus whatever I have left at the end of the month. Let’s call it a hiring safari! I’m planning to keep the team to a small skeleton crew to keep it relatively overseeable. If you’re curious about what we need in terms of talent, or are just interested in the project in general, feel free to check out the Project Page.
I’ll be staying in Cologne from the 19th to the 23rd of August. Looking forward seeing you there!
